Review: 'PERCY'
'Seaside Donkeys'

-  Label: 'Vinyl Eddie Records'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '26th June 2020'

Our Rating:
This is England's septic isle as seen from the North-East and the view is not pretty.

The Yorkshire based band produce plenty of venomous lyrics ("choc-full of slang") and the fact that it was crudely recorded live in a room ensures an absence of gloss.

There is punk romance in Love Song and dirge-like blues in A Little Trouble In Big Lils. Will Of The People features a justifiable savaging of populism and aims at a point somewhere between The Fall and Pulp although the lyrics lack the articulate venom of Mark E. Smith or the dry wit of Jarvis Cocker.

Percy are at their best in a spiky Rictus Grin where a short blast of organized chaos renders any more profound statements redundant.
