The three musicians on this album all have impressive pedigree: guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Armstrong has played with Bowie, Iggy, and Thomas Dolby, plus a host of others, while drummer Mat Hector has also played with the latter two of those. For their latest single, they’re joined by Flo Saveva, who’s currently a touring member of Heaven 17 and boasts an impressive resume of people she’s played alongside.
Perhaps the last thing I was expecting was a bouncy slice of guitar-driven pop with a punky energy with lyrics sung in French. As surprises go, it’s a good one: clocking in at just over 3 minutes, it’s succinct and punchy, and has that classic pop quality that’s reminiscent of Blondie. Nice.
