Review: 'Donna Cannone'
'Cross the Line'

-  Label: 'Despotz Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '25th September 2020'

Our Rating:
Not a person but a band, Donna Cannone features two former Thundermothers as well as Soilwork/The Nightflight Orchestra singer Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid. ‘Cross the Line’ is the trio’s debut ahead of their upcoming album due some time next year.

The whole deal with rock and punk bands donning glittery facepaint is getting a bit tired, and when they go for matching colours – in this case electric blue – it starts to resemble ABBA only with tattoos.

The good news is that they don’t sound remotely like ABBA, and one thing that never gets tired is a decent tune with big energy and a strong hook, and that’s what Donna Cannone serve up here. There’s melody, but there’s nothing sappy about it, driven as it is by bold guitars and a real sense of urgency.
