Review: 'Die Welttraumforscher'
'Die Ruckkehr Der Echten Menschheit (1981-1990)'

-  Label: 'Bureau B'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '5.3.21.'

Our Rating:
This is the first half of a best of Die Welttraumforscher's output between 1981 and 2012 and rather than the original cassette this is on Vinyl or Cd or download. This Swiss band's music has all be remastered for maximum Flusch, Knirk und Finom!

The album opens with Wunderbar a sort of synth dreampop song with what sounds like a glockenspiel and heavenly backing vocals.

Liebe Lilli is almost like Yello fused with Dr Mix & the Re-mix with a primitive drum machine powering it along this has nods to what would become drum and bass, with a great almost police siren style synth pattern.

Der Sternmann has a nursery rhyme quality to the vocals over the weird synth lines and almost harp like stings and odd percussion bits while sounding like they have re-worked a short classical piece.

Mann Im Kuhlschrank is a bit of odd synth pop that sounds like it would work at a very weird disco to do the dislocation dance too. Telefontaz is a short interlude piece with weird tape noises and odd noises a bit like This Heats Test Transmission pieces.

Alchemie An Wochenende sounds like it should be on the soundtrack to Trumpton in the 21st century. Mitkommen, Wegsein is a weird sci-fi soundtrack to the action at some alien nightclub on the planet Wegsein and what goes on in that special place as the music pulses and builds.

Falsche Berg Auf Dem Weg takes a synth pop rhythm and layers in the weirdness as the loop repeats and the motifs mutate.

Kaffe, Kuschen Und Kometen is the music to be played in a futuristic Café observatory as you gaze at the stars while inhaling Kaffe Vapours and eating black forest gateaux reimagined on your plate as a comet with the cherries as planets and the spots of cream splattered by a clenched knuckle as the stars, that you realize as you eat it, has been laced with psychedelic space dust.

Aller Tage Abend almost sounds like they have gone all indie-synth pop that off course goes off in some weird and wonderful directions a bit like Telex in places.

Hinter 7 Monden is semi baroque wind chime and synth piece for floating across a mountain lake with some interesting Chinese opera influences.

Sonntagskinder has a wonderful nursery rhyme feel to it like they are talking about gnomes and elves that live up in the alps waiting for children to walk by. I wish I knew what the story that unfolds in the lyrics was actually about.

Mondfolklore has animals howling in the distance across the alps as the slow insistent keyboard synth pattern slowly meanders along a precipitous path never knowing what might jump out at you next.

Glucklich, Traurig, Seltsam. Has one of those main tunes that I should be able to identify where I know it from, as it sounds almost like a marriage of Bo Hannson and Hans Lundin with oddly sing song vocals now where do I know the piano part from, I want to say Peter Gabriel's Games Without Frontiers but am not sure.

Seashells And Flowers is sung in English and is a lovely piece of shimmery pastoral chamber synth pop with a drum and bass like percussive undertow.

Fliegeleicht doesn't sound like a tribute to Fleigel from the Banana Splits, as it sounds more like chill out room drum and bass with Synth and hummed vocals.

Judith will be happy if you play this for her as this a pretty piece of laid-back instrumental synth pop. The album closes paradoxically with Hallo Hallo Hallo rather than Auf Wiedersehen, Auf Wiedersehen, Auf Wiedersehen in this case it sounds like they are saying Hallo Hallo Hallo to the new day in a meadow just below the tree line of an alp it's a rather joyous close to the album.
