Review: 'DEMEYER, BRIGITTE'
'Seeker'

-  Label: 'BDM Music'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '26th March 2021'

Our Rating:
Brigette De Meyer is a former Nashville resident but is now back in her home state of California , a relocation forced upon her for family reasons.

Moving west inspired the songs of this record and we hear her sing of seeking a new sense of belonging in the sunshine state and missing her music city chums. Salt of the Earth harks back to the musical community she lost in the move.

The ten songs were co-written and produced by Jano Rix, multi-instrumentalist of The Wood Brothers, and the backing band includes Oliver Wood on electric guitar while Chris Wood shares upright and electric bass contributions with Viktor Krauss.

“It’s all about vibe”, De Meyer says and the vibe hear is sultry and bluesy, akin to the soft roots groove of Little Feat.

It's technically proficient but the mellow, laid back delivery and polished production air brushes over any rawer emotional content.
