Review: 'Old Town Crier'
'I'm Longing For You Honey In Middleboro, Mass'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '13.3.21.'

Our Rating:
Old Town Crier are the current project of Multi-Instrumentalist Jim Lough and they play old time western swing blues heartbreakers.

This EP opens with Don't Go a swinging old time western blues for the love you don't want to leave you with plenty of regret and pain and a cool guitar that keeps thing interesting as the pleading goes on for her not too walk out that door.

Easy is another bruised and lonesome song of regret and hope to turn around another failed love affair over a gently lilting tune that like most of this EP would sound good being sung around a barbecue or a country fair as the slide playing really adds a nice effect to work against the harmonica.

I Might Get Lost sounds like it's going for a sparse almost Springsteen style song for the love that as ever is walking out on him as the multitracked backing vocals repeat the songs title over and over as Jim lays out his case to her.

Into The Dark is a sparse acoustic song for all his ghosts that are haunting that old town, as he tries to find a way to move on and carry on without you.

The EP closes by taking us on a trip down the Moonlight Road to some sort of redemption and hopes that she'll realize what she's lost and come running back to him once more. This EP has 5 songs for the heartbroken and longing to drown there sorrows too.
