Review: 'Haywood, Dan'
'Country Dustbin'

-  Label: 'Takuroku Records/Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '1.10.21.'

Our Rating:
This single is 52 minutes 52 seconds long song, yes just one song and that long. How country is it, well it's gentle country strum with Dan reciting more than singing the lyrics that at this length are somewhere between an epic poem and mini novella that I'm sure could be turned into some sort of weird hybrid tele-novella as the shuffling beat keeps on going.

What is he talking about well life and love and drinking too much wine, while trying to make sure the roof doesn't cave in, as they get ready to haunt you like the repeating main musical phrase will haunt your brain long after the tune finishes.

About 17 minutes in the main tune goes and there is a Doors like organ interlude as the story carries on about all sorts of things, they can put in a pizza box and the cymbals really get going and slowly the main tune comes back in, as they try to keep it fresh while trying to escape from the swamp.

The music drops out at the 22 minute mark, as a leopard is lying in a tree waiting for the drums to come back in once more, as that groaning lorry drives by as they get deeply fried in Peckham. He does the double dip and all sorts of other shady stuff as the piano or is it organ comes more to the fore.

Confessions of Potato sins, getting discharged from National service, as he turns the screw once more against old world customs. Is this sweeter than honey and stronger than a lion, well you'll have to listen to most of the tune to find out. Do opposites attract will you love or be annoyed by a song this long, will you factcheck how long it's been going on for or just not notice the time flying by.

As it nears the end questions of global capital and dedications from me to you, as he asks what type are you? Will he ever find his way out of the Country Dustbin or not, as I wonder if this should be used by remixers to cut their favorite 4 or 5 minutes into a far more concise tune than this, or not. Just like in the video attached to this review. If you like really long songs this is very cool indeed, if you like short sharp shocks then this isn't for you.
