Review: 'Vlimmer'
'No Position/1979'

-  Label: 'Black Jack Illuminist Records/Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '2.9.22.'

Our Rating:
No Position is a taster for Vlimmers second full album following on from the band's immense series of ep's, as ever Alexander Donat's band make dark goth synth rock, this single is dancefloor ready for your local goth and dark wave clubs.

With a thudding beat and goth synths No Position opens as you might expect the new Vlimmer single to sound, with Alexander Donat's vocals as so often having a Germanic Robert Smith sound, as this slowly gets more atmospheric before the pummeling your brain with beats noises and distractions, rams home that this is doing several things at once, while not taking any particular viewpoint, onto how to make a cool underground goth pop hit in the 2020's, yes No Position indeed.

1979 does indeed sound like the sort of synth pop single you could have made in 1979, this is glacial and rather laid-back cover of the Smashing Pumpkins hit that sounds rather haunting when sung in German. It was originally recorded for Destination Unknown A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins back in 2018.
