Review: 'Black Market Karma (FT Sonic Boom)'
'The Sour Truth'

-  Label: 'Flower Power Records/Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Post-Rock' -  Release Date: '16.8.23.'

Our Rating:
The Sour Truth is the latest single by Stan Belton's project Black Market Karma, this time the single has been mixed and produced by Sonic Boom (AKA Pete Kember) of Spacemen 3, Spectrum, E.A.R. fame, as when Sonic heard the original version of this song he wanted the chance to re-mix it, adding some of his own synths and percussion to the song.

The A-side of this 10" single is The Sour Truth that has been produced and mixed by Sonic Boom who gives it an early Spectrum Soul Kiss Glide Divine style feel, to this glorious sparse synth pop song, that is bitter at the state of the world we find ourselves trying to live through, the lyrics are bitter in a world weary way, and the synth lines continue repeating and evolving as a cool guitar figure weaves through the centre of things.

The B-side is Wisdom Shifter that is a neat term for anyone whose realty has been shifted in ways they never imagined in the last decade, as the vocals appear to have been treated with a tremolo effect, as the slow doped beats, with careful guitar push things along, as the strings decorate the space they create making a calm chilled out effect.
