Review: 'Maxwell Farrington & Le Superhomard'
'Please, Wait...'

-  Label: 'Talitres'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '1.3.24.'

Our Rating:
Please, Wait... is the second album by Maxwell Farrington & Le Superhomard who this time around have also added Le Orchestre De L'Opera De Nancy as backing band for the duo's ultrasophisticated chamber pop, as Maxwell Farrington and Christophe Vaillant expand their sound.

The album strums into life with The Boat a slightly wistful tale of love lost along the shoreline of desire, windswept strings yearning for the long-lost days of romance.

The Nimbostratus Jig finds them with there heads in the clouds once more, dreaming of days when everyone worships Scott Walker and The Divine Comedy, while putting to good use the skills needed to arrange the orchestral settings to take us all down to the beach once more.

Plat Du Jour is as tasty as you would wish for, as this takes us from the beach on a little boat trip, to seduce you among the gentle waves with rising waves of brass and woodwind evoking a pastoral elegance.

Backgammon is just a roll of the dice away from doubling up, winning you away from all the other distractions, a full-on games room drama couched in strings and keyboards floating through the air.

Hexagon takes us on a trip to South America via the breezy strings tacking against the wind, finding love among the luff, as they skip hop and jump around the globe.

Galbulus is a very down at heart musical interlude of stunning beauty and care.

Beggings Not My Business no no they would much rather you threw yourself at them, they are not getting on hands and knees to plead for the love they so rightly deserve, if this gloriously romantic music doesn't lure you in, then you're not worth the effort.

Catch 42 is when you wake up next to someone the next morning realizing you don't have any of the lust of the night before left, just a feeling that perhaps the sooner you mooch on down the road the better, as wave as upon waves of strings help you wander out that door, sad that your fantasy didn't live up to reality.

Topinambur is another love not quite as you expect it reflection, through delightful strings dancing across the speakers.

Postprandial Promenade Features Nadine Khouri has a woozy laid-back atmosphere full of longing, yearning to get back to the love you once had.

The album closes with Stirred Not Shaken one more down at heart, slowly evocative song of stunning beauty, warning you to make sure you cover up so you don't catch your death, sensible advice was never couched in as much beauty to make you listen this time.
