Review: 'Vlimmer'
'Lichtbruch/Under Pressure'

-  Label: 'Black Jack Illuminist Records'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '24.5.24.'

Our Rating:
Vlimmer is back with his latest single Lichtbruch his second single of 2024 following on from Mauerkipp and continuing Vlimmer's main man Alexander Donat's amazing creativity. If there was any justice in the world this would be one of the hottest darkwave/goth 12" singles of the year.

The a-side is Lichtbruch that has a deep goth club beat, gauzy synths for Alexander Donat to intone the imprecations over, the song threatened to build into an imperious peak, ready for a dancefloor drop that doesn't usually happen on slow thoughtful dark wave tunes like this.

The B-side is a cover of the Queen and David Bowie classic Under Pressure, sung in German, dark dank synths full of majesty, bringing the fraught pain at the heart of the lyrics to the fore, the synth that sounds like a clavinet adds an ancient feel to this most modern take on this song. A wonderfully original re-working.
