Review: 'Vulpyne, Molly'
'Amortize'

-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '30.8.24.'

Our Rating:
Amortise is the debut solo ep by Molly Vulpyne from The Vulpynes and Meryl Streek, the latter of whom helped out on this ep, alongside Tony Carberry and Peter Jones. The Ep was recorded by Dan Doherty at Darklands Studio in Dublin.

The A-side of the 12" single opens with Dead In The Water a dark hued reverb laden guitar driven song making absolutely clear just how Dead In The Water your ex is to you, Molly's vocals are just dying to burst out with rage at what's happened, but she's holding it back, ready to get rid of her own self hate and direct it at the real target of her anger.

Romantic almost sounds like Lush, but with a drum and bass backing, Molly stresses over the details and how things should be, rather than being the true romantic she feels, she is her true messy self.

The B-side opens with Nothing Fills that gap in your life like a good hard rocking punk song, but sometimes you need to fill that space with something more substantial, if your life has fallen apart how do you stop falling into cliches and move onwards and upwards.

Intertial Right Hand Man is someone she feels the need to lean on, to feed that itch, over a slow strummed guitar sounding like an Irish Lorette Velvette she figures out why you're the only one whose laid bare their soul to you.
