Mother is the second album by Swedish mystical band Forndom following on from the debut album Father. This time they explore the female deities of the Sudermannia Plains, how they are influenced by the greatest god of all Mother. Forndom created Mother between Summer Solstice 23 and 24. They are Ludwig Sward with The Uppsala Temple Orchestra, Janne Posti, Thomas Von Wachenfeldt, Egil Sward, Gullan Sward and Disa Ahman.
The album eases in with Tunriders, it's raining, the wind is howling you are deep in the Nordic forest, chanting the Rune of death eight times over, Janne Posti gets us deep into the world of the Uthark feminine mythology, darkness strings rustling the trees, ancient runes surveyed.
Urd a droning hymnal evocation to the mystical, relaxing, floating welcoming connection, to she who must be worshipped.
Moderstarar is calling you with long horns, deep drums sending signals through the mountains, Harp leading us into the narrated vocals this tale of Mother's Tears adorned with beautifully rising strings full of love and admiration.
Disar feels like a dark march through the woods in the depths of winter, with barely a couple of hours daylight at best, lamenting vocals full of pain and sorrow, despite the love that never leaves them.
Jord is a deathlike march towards several runes and sites of mystical powerful Earth, the strings rise over the deep evocative drumming.
Ran shakes its mantra between the lulling strings, carefully timed bass drum, peaceful and melancholically beatific, voices whisper through the winds.
Den Karlek Som Vi Gav is The Love That We Gave to our mothers swelling with pride, strings rise around us, heartbeat rhythms, one last tribute to an unending love, vastly opening out towards an ice cold lake, eventually the strings separate into strands of the tale, different adventures slowly drifting towards a majestic conclusion.
