Review: 'Tone Scientists'
'Kiiroi Tori'

-  Label: 'Org Music'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '31.1.25.'

Our Rating:
Kiiroi Tori is the second EP by Tone Scientists the odd jazz pop super group featuring Mike Watt, Bucky Pope, John Herndon, Vince Meghrouni, and Pete Mazich it was produced by Bucky Pope
The A-side of the 12" single fades in to Excuse Yourself a gently jazzy pop song apology for the things that someone needs to make, no matter how often your caught lying, how did you get where you are, dirty brass distain for your stain on the family name, like a Flaming Delmonic reborn.

Struggle Bus is nursery rhyme crimes, down beat flute funky jazz extrusions. The Sun One has a 40's organ rhythm and blues feel. Like you're the one from the Sun, like Sun records, on this Sun Ra classic with call and response vocals and Wes Montgomery inflected guitar, it has a your gonna do what your gonna do feel, down at the late-night soda fountain.

The B-side opens with Those Isthmus Blues for those like themselves born on the right side of the tracks, who are totally sympatico with the underclasses, in the never-ending fight for freedom and peace, a jazzy rap dreaming a brighter day might still be possible, while praising the mystical Isthmus town of Madison Wisconsin and it's original native burial mounds and peoples.

Kiiroi Tori has an extenuating guitar line through which comes deft piano lines set in the jazzy sax confines, duck walks across the speakers.
