Our Rating:
I'm An Artist is Philip Rambow's follow up to Canadiana his most recent cracker from 2020. This British based Canadian Legends has this time around worked with Malcolm Doherty, Bill Clift, Luke Edney and everyone's favourite guest Bob Loveday. Produced by Malcolm Doherty and engineered by Ali Tildesley.

The album opens with Artist that maps out what Philip does, he makes music and travels the world, naming a list of places he's played, horn section drives things on in a soulful rock way, a bit like Willie Nile, this has loads of sass and a cracker of a guitar solo.

A Dollar Short stomps along, four to the floor blues pumping out, the hard scrabble of trying to make deadlines you never can quite deliver on, he barrels on trying to juggle everything and keep his head up.

Cold Blue Steel is slow burning reminiscences, over New Orleans style organ, gently strummed guitar, this has a sophistication drawing you deeper into the music and hoping he finds his salvation.

Bus Stop isn't a 70's disco sensation, more a burnished heartlands reflective rocker, for all the Bus Stops that helped him down the road to rock and roll oblivion and salvation of a red dog rambling man.

Motherfuckers is for anyone giving it to immigrants like him, anyone stupid enough to not welcome multiculturalism, or a world in which he can move wherever he pleases, making one more great rock and roll song, if you're getting in his way, he will slay you with a guitar solo and a mean mean look, Motherfuckers get outta his way.

Roots & Wings is dinner with your mates chatting about your kids, life and loves, hopes for giving your kids a better world than the one you lived in, with sorrows of the smartphone Ai generation.

The Emperor's Clothes takes a gentle aim at the way of the world, why do we bow down to the most disgusting members of humanity, who claim to rule our world, no names needed, mentioning which criminals he's singing about.

The Man In The Iron Mask the man freeing himself of the shackles of a mundane everyday existence, taking him out of the American heartlands and into an international wanderlust, this chugs along.

The Road To Hell is a country hoedown of mean intent, gun battles addictions, fights and all the troubles along the road to ruin. Whatever you do, don't try to give him any advice, just let that fiddle player lead the way.

Lost Without You is an end of the evening almost Chas & Dave piano sing along for the ones you love the most, this has a honky tonk elegance of days gone by, if only we could never part.
