Our Rating:
Circle Music +4 is the second pressing of the first vinyl issue for 90's Nerdcore post hard core band drill for Absentee that collects the bands original Circle Cd, adds the bands self-titled 7" single and a bonus tune recorded with the bands current drummer Ken Kuniyoshi alongside original members Kevin Kelly, Bryan Sargent and Michael Nace. This pressing has different artwork to the first pressing as well as being pressed on 180-gram royal blue vinyl.

The A-side opens with Circle. That feels like a series of fractious equations, fury laden guitars laid down into our ears.

Albatross thankfully isn't full of rumours, it is more of a musical tumor, metastasis rising and falling elliptically, till the slow passage with whispered vocals blotting out the sun, like that Albatross they claim won't let you down.

Ars Poetica Scribbled On A Parking Ticket starts slow and almost not there, this tale of everyday signals to ways of getting through the drudgery, very slowly reveals itself, when the feedback arrives this takes off in search of deeper understanding.

Process Music For Numbers Ascending From Five so they play on the six seven and eight notes, delicately ascending patterns, they saw octagons in need of intersecting splices translated into musical notation, or some other math institute wizardry.

The B-side opens with Naked Singularity being studied deeply by the tripping repeating guitar and drums, vocals whine and whimper or spout blank verse like they expand on the layered vocals the Velvet Underground used, to layer two or three opposing vocal threads against each other, this is less arch, sleazy and far calmer musically, they have missed the last train home again, which is when they have that nakedly singular experience that's life transforming.

This Process Will Make Chicago Wave Its Little Hand is not about Iggy Pops legendary gig at Waves in Chicago in 1980, or the bands need to play club Dreamerz in hope of an opening slot at Cubby Bears, instead being far more abstracted.

Detunist is slowly retuning all the instruments, this gets wonkier for a tale of love gone out of sync, will they ever be in tune with each other, or is confluence never totally part of their equations.

Drown In Words has a hard-core, nerd core yelped frenzy, ranting into our baffled ears, suddenly they go jazz club, distressed guitars destroying the calming brushed drums, pain is essential for reducing the deficit, caused by too many quadratic equations shifting into odder no wave realms of Mars frenetic patterns, scorned rhythms.

The Sea Is Watching is the reunited new tune with drums recorded under the Okinawa Expressway, they dream of that expressway to your lust, can they persuade you it's a good idea to drink with them, we'll is that all there is to this tale, not quite the frazzled edges compute conclusion.
