This is a re-issue of Vono's second album Modern Leben that originally came out on Sky records in 1983, Vono were the brothers Norbert and Volker Schultze with help from Ralph Benatsky the album was produced by Stephan Kaske at Mythos Studios in Berlin.
The album opens with Ich Steh Im Regan has the early 80's synth pop sound, with quite deadpan vocals that make this sound quite clinical.
Modern Leben isn't a David Bowie cover, but a pulsing driven dance pop song with chanted vocals, that are almost more motoric than the beats.
Und Neiman Weiss doesn't seem in love with the American department store, this keeps to the Kraftwerk influenced synth pop sound, with the odd guitar added for texture.
Automaten has that robotic beat and synths while the vocals seem to get angrier at the effects of all the automation, lord knows what they would think of how things have gone since 1983.
Jeder Hat Ihn Gern Boy sounds like they are cheering on their favourite computer games addict, while he sets another high score, fingers firing off lasers and shots to get that high score once more.
Nachtwanderer is almost a sequel to Grace Jones version of Nightclubbing, this is the walk to the club through all the dark clandestine streets, which side of the wall is this Club on, or are they just going to Banhof Zoo station to walk around again ducking into the Tiergarten.
Du Siehst So Gut Aus has an industrial techno edge perfect for some strident dancefloor action and slightly robotic movements.
Wenn Du Mich Kusst has light as a feather synth line, with far harsher sounding declaimed vocals, they snap photo's on the dance floor before the almost Stylophone solo hits.
Hurra is more minimalist synth backing with angrier sounding vocals. Geniess Den Morgen is almost like a re-working of Funkytown they sing about Tina Turner and other genius'.
Fred Der Ritter is addicted to chocolate bars and can't decide which colour he likes the most, the speedy upbeat sporty synthpop seems to be in love with Medulla.
Weil Nicht Sein Kann is a message for the president, will he hear it or just ignore them, this has the most prominent guitars on the album, with a cool riff working counterpoint to the keyboard line.
The album closes with Monch In Kina that has a post punk synthpop angst to it, are they in an art gallery or a weird post-modern cinema.
