Review: 'STRANDED HORSE'
'The Warmth You Deserve'

-  Label: 'Talitres'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '4th April 2025'

Our Rating:
This collaboration between Normandy born artist Yann Tambour and kora virtuoso from West Africa Boubacar Cissokho is a melodically rich and utterly enchanting work.

Tambour’s intimate and slightly effete vocals suit the impressionistic lyrical content and his words blend perfectly with the accompanying classical guitar and kora arpeggios.

Two of the nine tracks (Le Feu qui nous rend las and the closing piece Sous pied d'camélias) are in French but the rest is sung in English.

I was critical of the global mix for the 2016 album ‘Luxe’ but this is a far more balanced affair where the fusion of styles combines beautifully.

The opening line of the title track is ”There is a place where chaos ends” and it is clear that these two know that this sacred location is to found in music.
