Our Rating:
This Garage rock compilation for Record Store Day 2025 features 17 songs taken from live performances by 17 legendary garage rock bands that Cave Stomp have persuaded to play for them Live and on the radio show they run in-between shooting craps. Mainly introduced at the start of the bands sets by either Lenny Kaye or Pete Zaremba, which is odd as often the first song of a live set has the sound guy getting the levels right.

The album kicks off with She Bit Me by The Hatebombs who get straight to it with the fuzzy screamed glory of She Bit Me, you can bet they loved the fact that she did, slightly chaotic and greasy as you like, scream along with The Hatebombs now.

Next up are The Hate Bombora's with Jake Cavalier for a romp through Wrong Place! Wrong Time! Totally stomping rawk and roll that sounds perfect in the Night Time.

The Chocolate Watchband only want to do one thing, yup Talk About Girls, what more do you expect, they are not as sleazy as Johnny Thunders was singing this classic, but they have enough of a wicked grin to be sure it's all they ever do.

The Gravedigger 5 get All Black And Hairy doing that Monstrous stomp, feedbacking guitars, shambolic drums and horror cartoon vocals to scare the beejeebus outta you.

The Hentchmen need to rave it up on the organ, telling us their Life Story at 150mph, careening round bends like they are one note away from catastrophe, hanging on for dear life, going wilder and wilder by the second.

The Mooney Suzuki are in trouble, they have a Heart Attack Blackout, someone has had that strong an affect on them, no idea what went on but damn the glory of that gritty fuzzy guitar will revive them again and again.

Lyres buck all the trends by not having a the in front of the band name or using letters in the song title as they going wild on 7 after a slightly demented intro, the Maltese organ garage legends have a great stop, start, stuttered laid back feel.

The Monks playing the West German bands first ever US show open with a tribute to Thelonius on Monk Time the bands theme song, they ham it up, let Atomic bomb organs explode into high octane action.

The B-side opens with some Garage Girl action from The Brood who Come On and give it to us at full blast, like only girls from Portland can, they go Wild!

The Secret Service storm through Biff! Bang! Pow! Like they wanna duff Alan McGee up for using this song title for his bands name, before playing one of the best guitar solos on the album, it will hit you like an upper cut.

The Mosquito's buzz their way through The Stomp! Like they are a 1958 style rockabilly band, I hope the whole audience did The Stomp! along with them in a formation style.

The Swinging Neckbreakers however are in the mood to Do The Flop, they are in love with dear old Dick Fosbury and having a high old time jumping all over the place.

Dead Moon are the second band to buck the The Trend and also uses numbers for song titles, they blast out 54/40 Or Fight like they are at a late-night horror show and everything is about to kick off.

The Greenhornes have Miriam Linna helping to introduce them before they blast through No More like it wasn't the bands first gig in eons, buzzed guitars and organ driving everyone crazy.

The Cheapskates are almost Power Pop garage rocking through Run Better Run with a chorus we can all sing along too; This is one of the least manic songs on the comp.

The Standells sing the bands immortal hit Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White this is less wild than hearing Gonn cover it, but as you'd expect the entire audience chant the chorus at them.

The album closes with The Sonics mauling and brawling there way through He's Waiting for you to come home from having too much fun with The Sonics again, Cave Stomping having a great time listening to this album, Vol 2 is already on its way in a few months' time.
