First active in 1969, the current line-up of Little Feat is creatively described as ”reinvigorated”.
Keyboardist Bill Payne, now 76, is the only member of the group from the original four-piece line-up.
The rest of the band are Sam Clayton (congas, vocals, percussion), Kenny Gradney (bass), Fred Tackett (guitar, mandolin, trumpet, vocals), Tony Leone (drums, vocals) and Scott Sharrard (lead guitar, vocals).
Sharrard and Leone are the latest members having joined the band in 2020. The title track features the sister duo Larkin Poe.
This is the band's 18th studio release and it’s their first album of new original material since 2012’s Rooster Rag.
With an impressive thirteen tracks and over an hour’s worth of solid music this is certainly not a band content to go through the motions.
For me, they have always epitomised AOR (Album/Adult Oriented Rock). The original Lowell George incarnation had its moments but I’ve never been a big fan. Having said that, I have to admit that the energy level and spirit of this record is mightily impressive.

For fans of classic blues-rock it’s hard to fault. The playing is sharp, the commitment is strong and the arrangements are tight.
Perhaps they do make records like they used to after all.
What more you could ask for from a band that have lasted for over half a century? Not only that, but the band’s official website states boldly ”the end is not in sight.”
They are destined to rock ‘til they drop,
