Matthew Young started recording Undercurrents as far back as the late 1970's and it is his first new album since 1986. The album is a mix of Hammered Dulcimer pieces and Automatic compositions and weird synth pieces that feels right to review as a poem, the titles of the pieces start each stanza.
Undercurrents
Reflexion slowly emerges dappled in sunshine,
Rippling reverberating undercurrents,
Onward flowing tripping jumping repeating prismatically,
One And All carefully pluck wonder from wire,
Twisting shapes left side calm right side agitates,
Crescent shards of light connect One And All,
Undercurrents burble in the shallows,
Keys clash from differing dimensions,
Tralfamadorian musical engagement,
Slip streaming semiotic synergies,
Weaving through galaxies syncretically,
Buzzing tinnitus tonalities monkian duelettes,
Calm flusters pitter patter fluttering,
A Game Of Chess, A Game Of Chance,
Pawns hiss along board,
Castle messages to Bishop obscured,
Low tonalities Knight ordained,
Lower chimes Queen triumphant,
Minimalist King left unadorned,
The Summer Girls hammered with fiery dolls,
Sailor's sheets in wind bells ring out,
Elizabethan pop prognostications.
Memories of storms passed survived,
Incredibly strung out sublimely intoxicated,
Her Key Is Minor than her key tones,
Shantyesque sombre decay crumbling blossom,
Into The Woods dulcimers must go,
Wood pecking strings virulently,
Racing deep within the trees,
Escape worries freed spirits rise,
Fluttered wings shaken branches,
Twisting mesmerically calmly fluttering away.
Racing towards a wooded utopia,
Further into the woods beyond humanity,
Energies of ancient matrixes tapped into eternity,
