Atlanta songwriter JJ Posway was the driving force behind a Georgia-based Indie-rock collective named Scooterbabe and that band’s final line-up now form the basis of Seedbed.
These are, namely, Anna Staddon (vocals, keyboard), Michael Buice (bass) and Zach Spires (drums),
Producer Terence Chiyezhan was recruited to help mix and arrange what are called ”piecemealed recordings” spanning the past seven years.
The impression one gets is that there is no master plan behind the project; just a desire to collect together a bunch of ten songs in one place.
The nostalgic slacker mentality comes through but there’s also a surprising sense of continuity and togetherness.
The impressionistic lyrics offer little in the way of clarity. The only clue I could find to understand better the process behind putting these tunes into the public domain is in a track quirkily entitled C c c c c c c c c c c which has the lines .”And I’m trying to put this behind me / Break a cycle of complacence, catharsis through complacency,”

Blasts of energy and moments of reflection do suggest catharsis is somewhere in the mix.
Certainly, the material doesn’t come across has half-formed. There’s a melodic richness and vitality that fuels the hope that there is more where this came from.
