Ghosted III is of course the third album of ambient new age jazz exploration from the trio of Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin, it picks up where Ghosted II left off, so sit back relax and meditate along with this German and Swedish trio who recorded at Rymden Studio's in Stockholm with Daniel Bengston producing. The album was mixed at Good Mixture in Melbourne by Oren Ambarchi and Joe Talia.
The album opens with the ambient meditative sounds of Yek with a sinuous bassline, revolving percussion and chiming sounds to help you bring your life back into focus. This slowly evolves in ways that are perfect to chant a daily mantra along to it, while working on being a seventh part of the chanting circle.
Do is more ephemeral, with a minimalist outlook the drums are pared back, they rarely play more than a couple of bass notes every few seconds, with the treated guitar opening new horizons. Seh is gently laid-back mod music to gaze at the infinity of space too.
Chahar is by far the most upbeat tune on the album, it almost has a dance beat, while the bass and guitar appear to be flowing in and around each other while they explore the Mongolian wastes, almost like you are riding a Yak in search of a long-forgotten settlement.
Panj is slow thoughtful music that seems to be searching for a mystical river valley that the Panj flows through, somewhere in the wilderness between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, slowly floating along, slightly distressing sounds fly by like stray missiles, hopefully missing anyone in their path, interference sending coded messages across the vast tundra.
Shesh takes us on this international journey into the Iranian village rather than the Albanian one, well it sounds more Iranian, in the deep gong like percussion and slivers of repeating guitar notes allowing the listener to centre themselves and create a feeling of relaxed bliss while the music slowly engulfs their thoughts.
