This is one of the rare albums I receive that actually came with health warnings for listeners. The recommended optimal dosage: 30-60 minutes at < 70dB, delivered by Illustrious Labs 3D audioscape system, or binaural through your own headphones. Side effects may include: Contra-indications (in less than 10% of cases) Loss of consciousness, Unresponsiveness, Low blood pressure, Hypnogogic meta-trance, Inertia, Extreme calm, Hypnotic hypersensitivity, Hyperacuity and Visual hallucinations. If you are willing to risk all that, then Mesmerine 111 will take you on a journey into the historically and medically proven effects of 111hz frequency and its ability to induce trance like states. The first cd or tune on this album is the 50 minute long Dose 1 Mesmerine 111 that sets its sights on the magical 111 frequency as pulsars, kinetic occasional drumbeats and synths wash over you, like they have slowed down the b-side to Bowies Low, adding in the odd flourish, helping the listener to zone out. The music rumbles on, slowly evolving crisp effulgent waves of calm drift through your mind. Ten minutes in it shifts slightly with the torpor keeping you glued to the sofa you're sinking deeper into, tuning into the deep sonority, jangled bells and deep dream like state. Has your heartbeat slowed to match the pulsing beat yet, by this point it should have. You may have decided on some sage rituals to accompany this experience, certainly lighting incense will help the sense of total calm enveloping listeners. If your still sentient by the 40 minute mark you will undoubtedly feel your brain doing all sorts of exercises, opening portals normally kept shut and inducing a calmness and serenity that is at odds with the world as a whole.
The second cd or Tune is Dose 2 Mesmerine 111 (Vocal Mix) that may need to be played separately to the instrumental mix, being that only so much calm meditative feelings can be ingested in one sitting. The vocals explain and intone much of the information I culled from the press release for the first paragraph of this review, the messages repeat and mutate every few minutes, seemingly making the listener either feel totally calm or totally stoned, possibly a mix of the two, even if they have ingested no other drugs. The super calm narration from Charles Stooke may help you to keep your eyes open rather than just lying back and allowing the colours to mutate behind your eyelids, in your state of meditation and trance dreaming of neolithic burials. If you haven't zoned out yet, then you are immune to the effects of Mesmerine 111. Long before this finally comes to its conclusion I not only feel very calm, but also very stoned without having taken anything, other than the magical mystical drug that is Mesmerine 111 be careful how you use this powerful narcotic.
