The music of Bitchin Bajas can be,and has been, labelled post-ambient but post-kosmische might be more on the nose since the krautrock connections are so strong.
Space is most assuredly the place for this trio from Chicago, Illinois.
Their latest offering has just four tracks with the best being the last and longest. On Graut(18:38) an insistent drum beat kicks in at the four minute mark to create a low-key motorik pulse. Flutes and a looping beat are then introduced to increase the momentum. The overall outcome is very polished and soothing.
The opening tune Skylarking (06:40) has some saxophone flurries to add a little substance to the synthy abstraction. The other two pieces are Reno (04:45) and Keiji Dreams (08:35).
One reviewer described their sound as consisting of ”precision extractions of electroacoustic synthesis” which sounds accurate to me. You certainly have to be in the right altered state of mind (chilled ?/ spaced-out?) to fully appreciate this kind of stuff.

On their Bandcamp page there is the boast that it is all “so dialed in, you hardly even feel how there it is.” In other words, it’s easy forget that it’s playing in the background.
The soporific elements are redeemed by the final track; otherwise this not music that neither pervades nor invades the senses.
The protracted effect is more akin to a slow, steady seepage than a full-on flow.
Like I said, you have to be in the mood.
