Our Rating:
Fuzz From the Crypt is the latest album by Seville's finest garage rock export The Smoggers who have now been together for 18 years. The Smoggers are Fernando Jimenez, Ana Gonzelez, Antonio Leon, Oscar Valero "Mufas" and David Martin. This album is a mix of singles released since 2016 and unreleased songs.

The A-side opens with the screamed intro to Tonight letting you know you're in classic Psyche garage rock territory, overdriven amps, heavy organ and vocals telling us what they will do with you Tonight if you'll be there baby, how can you resist. Get ready to frug along with every song on this album.

Please Never Change and they won't either, they will always be a top-quality Garage punk band covered in fuzz, with every intent to spend the night with you, doing everything a classic Psyche rock band does, freaking out with a cool guitar solo, that breaks through the driving organ sounds.

They then in classic garage rock fashion cover Strychnine in a very Seeds style, this is off the hook and has a great sing along chorus, that will leave you wondering does it make your top 20 covers of this classic or not, it's certainly a contender, even if I’m most partial to Blood And Roses version.

Because I Love You is super tight garage punk love song full of intense guitars and Fernando doing all the begging and pleading he needs to do to make you his. Who I Am slows things down, he sounds like he is in pain, full of angst of the sort that can only be solved with a proper garage fuzz freak out bringing you close to him.

Hang Up go on Hang Up on them, it's time to move on and wail your way through this Wailers cover, you will need lots of oil wheels and lava lamps to get the mood right, for this ode to the old school joys of long loving phone calls.

Leave Your Mind behind and just give into the power of fuzzy guitars and Hammond organs, chomp down the acid and get totally fried with The Smoggers.

The B-side opens with Out Of Tyme what will they do if they don't have any Tyme to go on the Albongidas, they have also run Out Of Tyme to convince you to fall in lust with them, over the chugging monumental garage stomp beat.

You Can Listen is just asking you to hear what they want to say to you, then just say ok your right, I will have wild wild sex and take boat loads of drugs with you, this song is the bands convincer, how can you resist a wild organ solo like this.

She's Wicked is a great version of the Fuzztones classic chant along garage screamer, if you don't know a woman to play this too go out and find one now. Woman Try go on just try to control this lot, they will drive you wild, if the guitars don't fry your brain and get you crawling into bed with them, Ana will unleash her organ solo to congratulate you on managing to resist the onslaught.

You'll Never Come Back and they have finally realized, that all the playing about they've done has driven you into the arms of another, You'll Never Come Back to them, no matter how tear stained the bands fuzz pedals are.

The album closes with Let Me Know just how many tip top Garage Psyche songs it will take to make you love The Smoggers, they make clear just how in need of your love they are, so give in and give them the love they crave among the fuzzed out guitars
