Review: 'Jodie Langford'
'Softly Spoken'

-  Label: 'Warren Records'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '24.10.25.'

Our Rating:
Softly Spoken is the last thing that Jodie Langford is on her debut album of Northern rap electronic punk, recorded in Hull at Warren House studios Jodie provides the vocals and Endoflevelbaddie provides the electronic music and production.

The album bursts into life with S.T.B.Y. that has clean and dirty versions, but nothing is as dirty as the synth bassline this opens with, bile is spat out at the instant noodle of a twat winding them up, you better not get under her skin, because as we all know It Sucks To Be You, because you really are the sort of twat that believes politicians.

A slice of Breastmilk Cheesecake is next, that is Jodie's twisted confession, set to an electro beat for her angry rapping, trying to stop all the lies and hatred, she's had enough of hidden cameras and everything else, while sounding like Helen Love or Atari Teenage Riot, she saw what he did and she don't like it.

The Biz comes in both full on and clean versions, Jodie lets loose on how people get treated like dirt, trying to get somewhere in The Biz, how will you demean yourself to get that deal, what clothes will you take off or who will you do, Jodie wants you to listen to her song instead, and listen to her raps to find out just how real she really is, without need to have 5 million followers on bluesky, so just let them make music and fuck shit up.

Put It Down your in at the hottest gig in town, now you're flying into a rage, everyone in front of her has a phone held up filming and live streaming the band, she just screams and rages for you to Put It Down and live in the moment, this needs to be played as walk on music at gigs everywhere, this deserves to be a huge hit, says the bloke who has a legendary album of bad gig photos, taken on his phone, normally during the first two songs of the set.

Ratz! The place is full of them, they are all ruining her life, she dare not sit on the loo seat, twitchy neighbours moaning and complaining about all the Ratz! in the shithole estate she's living on. Watch out for the mould that the Ratz! are attracted too, it's time to get a huge crowd singing Ratz! back at Jodie.

I See Only Red is drum and bass madness for insomniac times; You can't turn your mind off long enough to sleep, so you may as well bounce off the walls to drum and bass and a dark dance hall bassline.

Humiliate Me go on then can you Humiliate Me by asking 'em to do all sorts of allegedly sexy things for you, can they turn you out, or will you have the strength to instead humiliate the predators in this Riot Girl electro anthem, whatever you do don't piss Jodie off, she will get her revenge, also just treat everyone how you would like to be treated yourself with respect.

Bowling (Off With Her Head) she has to go, she's no good and now they want her dead, this has a desperate feel to the energetic backing and the shouted vocals making clear how deadly dark our times have become.

Dance 4Eva is the closet to a love song, with Jodie getting all seductive, telling the object of her desire that she wants to Dance 4Ever with you, set to bounce off the walls electro clash beats, while she tells us what she want to do to you, treating you like her own personal dragon.

The album closes with Shoutro that is like the album credits and thanks for everyone whose helped them, including the bands PR Phil From Futureproof who they have much fun with, along with the Warren House and loads of mates, this is a really sweet way to say thanks.
