Look Like Trouble is Holly Golightly's first new album in seven years since Do The Get Along, her old band Thee Headcoatees have a new album Man Trap also out on Damaged Goods Records. Holly recorded this album with Bradley Burgess, Matt Radford, Bruce Brand and Ed Deegan and it was engineered by Ed Deegan at Gizzard Studios in London.
The album opens with Black Tongue that sounds every bit as nasty an affliction as you could get, despite the cool as a cucumber jazzy rhythm & Blues backing that feels effortless, while Holly lets us know how much she despises whoever it is, that has been bad mouthing her with there Black Tongue, so whatever you do be nice to Holly or you'll end up on the wrong end of a fizzing guitar solo like the one on this tune.
My Get Back has a chilled vibe for this dark twisted message to another person whose done Holly wrong, Matt Radford’s bass seems central to delivering the message that you really should have looked out for Holly properly.
It's All is languid in an almost Mazzy Star style, wondering and dreaming of adventures good and bad over the sparse guitar and drums, the song is a memorial for those friends whose funerals Holly wasn't able to attend.
Rolling Along to that walking bass groove, express train rhythm drives this along the tracks to keep the train Rolling Along, while we should all make out lives roll along too. Down To One feels like a dance tune from the 1940's almost a cha cha cha for Holly to discuss the small things you do, that may make her count Down To One while the piano tinkles away.
Miss Fortune is a slow deliberate diss tune to make clear everything Miss Fortune has done to piss Holly off and advises her in a whisper to quit signing on the line. Secrets We Keep has a deep groove for the guitar to buzz enigmatically off of, while Holly tires to pick up the pieces and move on from all the secrets that have been bringing her down.
The Right Thing feels like a slow western ballad for those in need of a helping hand and a reminder that you should always do The Right Thing if you ever expect anyone to do The Right Thing by you. Time takes a classic Johnathan Richman guitar line and reworks it to to this new song, about the ravages of time that has Hi-Life elements to help encourage us not to waste time and go out and really live life to the full in time for a stunning organ solo.
The album closes with Sail On that has the feel of a perfect tune to sit on a boat with a cocktail watching the sun go down over the yard arm, a cool laid back vibe to help wash your cares away.
