Our Rating:
Humaura is the third album by Los Angeles based analogue synthpop duo LuckAndLove The duo are Loren Luck and April Love who recorded the album at Balboa Studios and Catwater with Be Hussey engineering, the album was mastered by Nicholas Townsend at Townsend mastering.

The album opens with the synth pop banger I Am Human that could easily be another Roisin Murphy hit with heavy dancefloor beats and vocals making clear they are in fact human and not some digital apparition. Feelz So Good to be out clubbing and having a great time to this tune, slowly the lyrics come through that things might not always Feelz So Good like this moment does.

Run On Run onto the next one, living life on a dating app and never getting past the second date, they are sick and tired of it and want you to let them go, so they can find someone with a bit more substance, who knows the difference between Stereolab and Strawberry Switchblade, when this breaks down into the darker parts the despair that no one looks beneath the surface sheen shines through.

Name Of Love a slow dark electro pulsating plea, in the Name Of Love for more than you have to offer or give them. When it begins to build, they try to move beyond all the heartbreak to a dancefloor euphoria, that can only be theirs if they can escape the shackles.

Lonely At Night has Icy synths for isolation and feelings of solitary despair they felt in the loneliness of night, especially through the pandemic, when you couldn't go out and find companionship so easily.

Down To Black isn't a song about playing snooker or running out of all your drugs apart from some Black, squelchy synths accompany them on a journey down to that place where they can find the joy and fun they seek at that market.

Secret Is Out has a driving dance beat, bewitching vocals enticing you to find out just what makes their hearts glow, if you listen carefully, you may hear the answer revealed in the lyrics, deep beneath glacial synths.

Hawks Do Cry I'd guess when they get caught supporting war crimes and other despicable acts without good reason, this however is slow and full of longing, twin vocals sound like they are intertwined in an aerial spiral trying to avoid that crash, get beyond the pain and back to safe ground.

The album closes with Melt In Sunshine where they seek sanctuary and space to live and love peacefully without fear, able to Melt In Sunshine while evoking pearly dew drops beneath the eternal rainbow.
