Review: 'LA HERIDA'
'Dead in Devil’s Paradise'

-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '24th October 2025'-  Catalogue No: 'AS-036'

Our Rating:
A warning. This album contains a plethora of creepy soundscapes that evoke the atmosphere of horror movies, cultish rituals or hideous nightmares.

The perpetrators hiding behind the mask of ‘La Herida’ are Eugenio Petrarca (aka Acrartep) and Lorenzo Setti (aka ATOMI).

The duo introduce themselves as creators of experimental music which explores ”the borders of time, memory, and sonic perception.”

Over the course of eleven tracks, and with the assistance of some collaborators, they blend acoustic and electronic instrumentation with field recordings to summon up a singular cauldron of dark ambient, abstract noise, heavy drone and manic trance.

There are sampled wordless vocals by Otucha Collective on Carved from the Trees and The Slammer features a reading of a Ukrainian poem which conjures up a mix of menace and desolation.

The short final track , has a field Recordings of plaintive female voice competing with chaotic street sounds.

Otherwise the effects come from a maelstrom on sonic intensity with Desafiante de la Muerte, a track recorded live in one session, being particularly absorbing.

Enigmatic and very impressive.
