Release the beast is the Sixth album by Berliner CV Vision who continues to record with help from Swedish Drummer Uno Bruniusson to put all his ideas together using two decaying tape machines.
The album opens with RTB or the title track Release The Beast a piece of ambient synth odd pop, with lots of shouts of One and odd bits and pieces thrown into the mix to grab the listeners ears.
The Rhythm is a fairly straight indie pop song for getting your rhythms in sync, can you feel it with the synths going nicely wobbly. Fast Intervention feels like cartoon chase music, disembodied phone message not letting you get through, tapes machines going in and out of there correct speed.
Dungeon drums is in three parts, like a short form electronica triptych for what happens in the dark room at the club CV Vision has been addicted too, for too long. Distressed beats and threats to go full on dancefloor disco, rather than dark dungeon malaise, are dealt with by spinning the pitch shifter wheel to almost be in time, squelchy bass and robo-vocals keep things dark and nasty.
A Memory of a sweet 70's pop song flutters into view, could Heidi be on his mind, shuffling cymbal heavy percussion and synths soundtrack the action. Nikita's tune keeps the 70's soundtrack flavour, only this time we watch Nikita wandering through an East German modernist housing development or similar scenario.
Block Rock is set on the Jean Jacques Perrey estate for synth worshippers with a sense of humour and a collection of Oil Wheels. It' K-Jazz is dancefloor synth jazz for odd cocktail parties.
Town Talk a frantic kraut rock psyche freak out, the LSD has hit and your out of your mind, talking to anyone you can in the middle of town, guns set to phase your brains away. The Jam is meandering through funky town with your computer games synths, getting the high score again, dancing through space again.
Brickwall Symphony is a Chinese opera transposed on Alexanderplatz. The album closes with Go Your Way a slow sad song the emotions reverbing in your mind sinking deeper into misery in the shadows, how can we get you out of this miasma. Go find your new hope in this dreamy psychedelic conclusion.
