Review: 'Mercury's Antennae'
'The Veil Opaque V.2'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp/I-tunes'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '2.12.25.'

Our Rating:
The Veil Opaque is a re-mix maxi single by Portland based darkwave trio Mercury's Antennae of songs from the bands Behind the Black Veil album they are Dru Allen, Cindy Coulter and Eric R Scheid. The songs have been Sonically altered, engineered and remixed by Eric R Scheid.

The EP opens with The Veil Opaque (Single Mix) a gauzy, shimmering dark treatise for those of you hiding behind The Veil Opaque, trying to be heard through the gloom, reminding me of Arson Garden or Downy Mildew.

Deer Island (A Far Unknown Mix) takes us to a magical island full of pearly dew drops shattering on slow strummed strings, glacial vocals emerge, peaking out in the long dark night ethereally bewitching listeners at every turn.

O Virtus Sapientiae is a piece by Hildegard Von Bingen that they have set to hauntingly beautiful music, that was recorded in the 12th century Salle Capitulaire, L'Abbaye de Sylvanes and has all the haunting echoes and resonance that suggests, this is a moving ambient epistle.

The Maxi Single closes with Through The Veil (Witchmoth Remix) built on long tonal drones and darkly opaque strings building a sense of foreboding, with the vocals echoing around the room, darkly inspirational slowly building to a haunting peak.
