Our Rating:
North Carolina's most Harry Crews obsessed band Knockout Artist are back with the bands second album Ramshackle Deluxe, this review will feature the odd line culled from Mr Crews work. Knockout Artist are Phil Venables, Danny Hooley, Matt Neal, Rock Forbes and Simeon Berkley, the album was recorded by Tim Harper in North Carolina.

The album opens living up to its title with Night 2 that has a chaotic velveteen urgency, driving you deep into adventures in the night, with that woman, who needs to escape the clutches of what has been driving her on, the bass and drums are super tight, while the guitars have a ramshackle energy, opening up the possibilities before her at Night, whether she's Loaded or not.

She Sees Through Lies yep she's got your number and knows when you are spinning another line of bullshit, even if you are better at it than any modern politician, the countrypolitan space rock feel, sounds like they are properly laid back after a good toke or six, while they look at all the things you claim to have got up too, while she knows the truth even when you're lying, just like Johnny Thunders taught her.

I Don't Wanna Dream About You Anymore you've been giving him double vision and frankly he's been waking up drenched in sweat worried those dreams will become reality, chiming guitars try to banish those recurring dreams from his mind, but they keep coming back to haunt him.

Drank this town dry, like they are playing slide guitar for Green On Red while on a never ending black out drunk spree again, it has some George Jones alcoholic stupor songwriting magic, detailing just what a car crash his life has become, shambling back to the bar for another round or three, while realizing just why she no longer wants to be around his nonsense, he asks for the most ridiculous drink of his life, I hope the bar tender poured him a pint of Creme De Menthe and milk.

You And Me And The Rain and he is sober enough to cruise down the highway, chugging riff driving them on through the storms and flourishes of jangling guitar, helping to open up that road like he's in a Florida frenzy once more, dragging a four-foot gator behind them.

Running Out Of Time going from bar to bar searching for what they need, do they even have time to get to slake the thirst, that burns tongues of fire, being chased across town by Long Ryders and trying to find the right spot to drink that bootleg whisky.

Lyudmila is from the Ukraine, a soviet sniper, for this tale of hard lives for a heroine who killed lots of Nazis on this fractured song, that has the fissures of fighting evil and surviving it to get a decent life with a bottle of Stolichnaya never out of reach.

Give Me Your Goddamn has them chasing fire and brimstone once more, with the symmetry of the bulldogs pose they have reaped what they sowed with a Blood And Grits lifestyle. Lonely is full of Acoustic guitars that sound like they come from a John Cale solo show, but with vocals that are more Robert Fisher, they are feeling lonely, like they no longer have anyone to care for them or to lick there mirror clean for them.

Stepping On My Grave like they just don't care for you or your garage psychedelia, that has wonky drumming and supple guitars flying off like they are cool enough to crack your eyeballs, like a real dipper in a frenzy splitting minds open, freaking out on the floor in paroxysms of joy.
