Our Rating:
Human Error is the third solo album by Bologna based underground artist Emil Moonstone, who through his 30 plus year career in the Italian alternative underground, has been part of among other bands Burp, DDT, Flying Chips and South Breed Out and In recent years solo with his band the Anomalies.

The album opens with War Is A Mistake a totally true statement, whoever starts a war is always in the wrong, this slowly unfurls, depicting the terror of a childhood in a war zone, that will haunt you for the rest of your days, this is sad reflections that humans have spent thousands of years, stupidly fighting ever more pointless wars, a message that needs hearing more and more in the brutally stupid times we are living through. The bassline slowly trying to bring light back to the darkest of times, they wish to avoid living through the blackout.

Stardust is full of memories of the shadows you've chased, while hoping to be covered in Stardust in love with Trevor Sensor's Warholian dreamscape, chiming in the interplay of guitars and glockenspiel.

Human Error is something that the tech titans are doing everything they can to eliminate, especially from music, this song rails against being over quantized and auto tuned all to hell, they want us to listen to the echoes of the past, learning once and for all that the errors are often what makes music special, while they slip down below, to that repeating simple keyboard motif and searing guitars.

Prison isn't about being banged up doing hard time, but for the personnel Prison you confine yourself in, a sanctuary where you can heal and find your own way to freedom, among the laconic piano and soft string backing.

A Weary Soul tinkles away at the piano trying to find ways to break free and find his sacred love, possibly hidden in a grand renaissance church, guitars open new vistas on a journey through to the break of dawn, where a butterfly will lead the Weary Soul into a more peaceful space.

Faded Tomorrow opens with a dark synth sound, conjuring visions of that faded tomorrow, with its endless sky shattering your dreams, harsh reality of life stopping you being wild and free, you dreamed of being Bologna's answer to Robbie Robertson rather than being compared to Johnny Stecchino.

Acid Rain is a slow dark funk tune, explaining the damage done to many places by Acid Rain, sweet guitar figure and keyboards sweetly trick the listener into thinking this is a nice story, rather than the real horror show it actually is.

Alive is full of the joys for managing to wake up for one more day on earth, the carefully narrated piece, takes away any doubts you have for chasing your passions, Dark hued keyboard led indie rock almost feels separate to the vocal lines.

Boredom Is Sexy is for the allure of ennui, how the blankest looking faces are often the sexiest, or the ones that draw most attention, intertwined guitars and stripped back percussion draw you together for some truly vapid interaction, in the darkness of the dead of night. The album closes with Fading Light a slow neo-classical piano intro to the ways Emil feels his life has become, like Fading Light slowly slipping away, taking all his pain and fears along with it.
