This 12" single is the last version of Oscillations that Simeon Coxe recorded at his home Chicken Coop Studios in Fairhope Alabama in 2019 not long before he passed away. It is very similar to his live arrangement for the classic first song on the duo's self-titled debut album in 1968, it's backed by the Andrew Wetherall remix of Edge Of Wonder from the bands final album Edge Of A Dream. This single is the first release by The Silver Apples Foundation who will also be releasing Kris Needs Biography of the band Electronic Evocations later in the year. They are also encouraging fans to submit their own remixes of the band's music to the foundation's website https://silverapples.foundation/ where you can play about on The Simeon. The single also comes with a Silver Apples slipmat.
Oscillations keeps Danny Taylor's original drum pattern and adds layers of analogue synths and Simeon's more mature vocals, keeping this version deep on the dancefloor, yet still sounding super modern and ahead of the game, the squelchy synth break down adds swooshing noises and church organ like central part rising through the mix, making most long-time fans, of one of the very first synth groups, very happy indeed. After the central breakdown it has a long deep dubby section that adds layers of weirdness and effects that takes it away from the original but without ever losing the essential original rhythm pattern.

Edge Of Wonder has speaker wobbling bass beats for the analogue synths to wash over, with gated spaced-out sounds and the simple mantra like lyrics of wonder, metronomes, waves relentlessly taking us out to sea and the outer reaches of wonder, this sounds like the bands typical synth pop, with an acid twist or three, with them as always flying through the skies of night time on another airline to Pan-Am.
