Review: 'Woodleigh Research Facility'
'Anamchara'

-  Label: 'Circuitry Electronic recordings'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '29.5.26.'-  Catalogue No: 'NEXUS002'

Our Rating:
Anamchara is a double vinyl album of deep cuts from the Woodleigh Research facility's vaults, that are curated by Nina Walsh and her late partner in musical mayhem Andrew Wetherall, who mixed and melded this music from the archives of their musical collaborations at Facility 4 Studios, in the Badlands between Streatham and Mitcham not far from Amen Corner. The third part of this musical mixture was the music taken from the Akashic archive of sound from Nina's other main musical and spiritual foil Erick Legrand. This release is part of the current re-issue program for Nina and Andrews collaborations hot on the heels of the 12" single of Oscillations by Silver Apples, where they remixed the B-side Edge Of Wonder, that was released two weeks before this album. I've chosen to review this album as a poem with a stanza per tune.

Anamchara

We Two sample frogs, manipulate sound extend those beats,
We Two cruise through Ultramarine world's laid-back bass course,
We Two sail the southern seas knocking on Norbury's door,

Crack-Ed mind split asunder dissolving beats a flowing retreat,
Crack-Ed spectral dervishes pulsating divergently,
Crack-Ed breaking rocks in the midnight hole clapping syntactically,

Shlap your body on the dance floor, twisted beats driving bass rushes,
Shlap your body leave your mind behind, snares cracking away crushingly,
Shlap your body into the swooshes, out beyond the spectral onrush,

Hidden Watchers Pt1 drip notes and sounds revving in the distance,
Hidden Watchers Pt1 classically strained strings solving times mysteries,
Hidden Watchers Pt1 stop and restart time moving though altered realities,

Yacidik ya ya Yacidik like Bowies Yassassin reborn, retooled reimagining trips,
Yacidik ya ya beats to split your mind, squelching through vales to the common,
Yacidik ya ya breaking down constituent parts of fractured minds,

Borderland (Andrew Wetherall Mix) floats down that disputed line, strings crossing undisturbed,
Borderland (Andrew Wetherall Mix) floats through the pet shop world of boys in distress,
Borderland (Andrew Wetherall Mix) floats across the borders from classical to acid house and beyond,

Heat To Meat Ratio three degrees a rasher, four degrees a slice of prosciutto,
Heat To Meat Ratio slicing sounds freshly beaten like an aged steak,
Heat To Meat Ratio beeping with intensity of ratio perfection being met eternally,

Ratty Old Puffin floating through smoke filled caverns listening to drummed messages,
Ratty Old Puffin in need of one last deep inhalation spectral feathers wavering,
Ratty Old Puffin still cooler than the smooth young chicks vaping,

Alma dear old Alma Cogan sweetheart for the ages voice of an angel,
Alma her notes remained crystal clear decades after being snatched away,
Alma the final memories of a disappearing mind a final eulogy of her wonders.
