Review: 'Trauma Party'
'Because You've been Good'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp/Deezer/I-tunes'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '17.4.26.'

Our Rating:
Because You've been Good is the new 4 track EP by Waiheke island, Aukland, post punk band Trauma Party who are Buddy Olson, Derek Solomon, Ron K and Kirsty Swanney. Recorded at the Dirt Track and Vanguard Studios, Mixed by Derek Solomon at Vanguard Studios, mastered by The Cage (Martin Bowes).

The ep opens with the scratchy intense Are We In Heaven a Wire meets Gang Of Four style, post-punk questioning angsty tune, trying to figure out how and when we can claim Are We In Heaven and how would we know if we are.

Speak To Me wants you to let him know how you feel, so he can give you a gun, this is strident agit punk, that makes clear that if all you ever do, when someone opposes your opinion, is to pick up a gun we are all doomed, this is darkly catchy.

Sharks is probably more of a local problem for Trauma Party than it is in London, we don't have to worry about Sharks in the river, unless it's bankers hanging from bridges of course, this keeps the dark angsty feel, with the guitars moving nicely across the speakers, another drunken rage in the streets.

Roll Up (It's the New Truth) and it's being told by a bunch of evil liars, this dives into the malaise, seeking to skewer all of the evil on rapier guitar shards, destroying all the snake oil they are trying to sell us, trying make us all hate each other, rather than hating the gatekeepers and exploiters.
