Indigo Red is Fabienne Delsol's fifth album of 60's style retro psyche loveliness. This time around recording the album at Gizzard studios with Ed Deegan Producing and engineering the album. Fabienne is backed by Thomas Gardner, Bradley Burgess, Rupert Brown, Carwyn Ellis and introducing Knox Watson.
The album opens with She Is Gone a wistful psyche pop song of heartbreak for a lover who leaves you at dawn, to do the walk of shame, while you are left hoping she would have stayed longer, You've woken up and noticed you are alone, while you were together when you fell asleep, the heartbreak cries out of the guitar solo.
I Heard About A Friend and the dreamworld he lived in, hoping to avoid the reapers call, while dreaming of a wedding day full of discovery, encased in bucolic psychedelic wonderment, this is wonderfully evocative and seductive. Black Sheep takes us deep into the 60's Parisienne psyche scene, reinterpreting this Detroit rock classic from the near mythical SRC.
If All Things could be said and should be said had been told to you, rather than remaining hidden like a curse on your love, soft psyche backing draws you into her torment, while she tries to decide if she should cast you out of her life or not.
I Have Known Love turns the Silver Apples classic into a wonderfully sparse psyche song of love and wonder with gentle keys and almost squelchy percussion and bass, helping us to drink the magic earth once more, dancing beneath the stars. The Morning After is a super slow smokey version of The Count Five song of hope for a happy morning after.
I'm Leaving You she has no choice and no matter how much she might love you, the draw of the Ye Ye life is too strong, on this version of the super obscure Lov'd Ones song. Daughter Of The Sun is for drinking red wine out of a tin and getting caught in a psychedelic whirl, for this version of the Sharon Tandy classic, that I'm more used to hearing re-worked by the Healthy Junkies into Son & A Daughter, so cool to hear a version of the song that's based on, this has a mightily intoxicating organ solo.
Peacekeeper is seemingly in short supply these days, but Fabienne wants to be a Peacekeeper trying to bring everyone together once more, on this slow thoughtful plea for peace love and understanding.
The album closes with the Francois Hardy classic Le Premier Bonheur Du Jour that is breathy whispers in your ear imprecations, over a slow delightful slightly fuzzy guitar and keyboards.
