The second album by Hudson Valley, NY Americana-country-folk duo Megan Barbera and Brad Armstrong was recorded in Mississippi while sitting in chairs facing one another.As they did so, the rhythm section played live in another room. It was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Clay Jones and includes Matt Patton of Drive-By Truckers on bass, and Jason Lucia on drums.
Most pictures of the couple depict them gazing lovingly into each another’s eyes. The video for Colorado shows them performing in a candlelit space.
The emphasis is squarely on intimacy and togetherness through two voices in total harmony. Separation is not on the agenda. The line “every road I follow I lead back to you” from In The Morning could refer to either or both of them.
The ten acoustic numbers here are about the splendor of nature and the fragility of relationships.
The warm melodies are lilting refrains that offer tender meditations and celebrations of life’s fleeting moments.
