Everything In Moderation is the new EP from Hull Based Indie fusion band The Sovereigns who are part of Hull Based Warren Records Youth project. The Sovereigns are Archie Hubbard, Alex Ingram, Joe Dawson, & Vinnie Cooze. The EP was produced by Warren Houses In house producer Adam Pattrick.
The Ep opens with Residual Sound Traffic, with samples of road noise, slow thoughtful guitar and bass being slowly strummed over, before the snare arrives and the song goes from exploratory jazz fusion into something a little more indie.
Smoke 'n' Drive is a pleasure many of us understand, dependant on what you want to smoke of course, this is laid back fusion Indie Jazz funk for pootling around town, rather than screaming down the ole highway, It sounds like they are smoking Lambert and Butlers rather than a huge great spliff or anything more dangerous.
Do You Wanna (Yeah I Wanna) is a jangly indie anthem for fun and games on a Friday night, that's in love with The Bluebells and The Housemartins in equal measure, while they list a good few things they want to ask you, if You wanna do them with them, they certainly make it sound like your going to have a fun time together. Hazel Eyes are transfixing you, making plans for where to lead your Hazel Eyes, into a yearning indie space were neo-military percussion blends with supple bass and pleading vocals.
Lady Of Lourdes was apparently inspired by Alex living next door to the Mary From Lourdes Methodist church, taking us towards the epic tale of St Bernadette's discovery and the creation of the healing spa's in the town, this isn't as detailed as Franz Werfel's magnificent novel, about the miracles of Lourdes, but is more a light sketch of this phenomena, over jangled guitars delving into all the death and glory contained in the story leading up to an epiphanic soaring guitar solo.
The Ep closes with Her they in lust with a particular girl, they are obsessed by, will she ever be yours, or will it be a fleeting ships passing in the night kind of thing, she makes your head spin how can you live without her, they beg and plead for Her to come home with them tonight, will she give in before the bass solo concludes or will she need a nifty guitar solo to seal the deal.
