'The Farm'

Our Rating:
The Farm is the second album by TVOD this time the Brooklyn based band, decamped and wrote most of the album on a farm in Neufchatel-en-Bray in France before spending a couple of weeks at Nave Studios in Leeds being produced by Danny Blackburn. TVOD are Tyler Wright, Jenna Mark, Mem Pahl, Denim Casimir, Serge Zbrizher and Micki Piccirillo.

The album opens with Welcome To The Farm complete with farmyard noises and a gate opening with a watch with mother style intro leading into the slurry punk urgency of Clorox raging against conspiracies and making plane it takes a village, that they want change, within the mind melting clattering energy.

Wet Brain sounds like something you might have after a few sherbets too many the night before, they are stuck in the pouring rain, still going insane to the slacker vocals and post punk grungy guitars, crushing your ability to resist TVOD.

The single Rerun is slower, built on the bassline for the ever-repeating cycle of life, they claim they want to find the next new thing, but will probably end up watching reruns of Sex & The City and Friends again.

Bottomless Pit opens with a message to the President and then the fury bursts forth, at the Bottomless Pit of despair almost everyone feels in the 2020's, nightmares become reality, truth the first casualty, they know the nation they call home has gone totally insane and they are numb with the insanity of it.

Natalie Portman is still an object of lust for TVOD, they have nothing but their own free will and are still lusting after just a glance from dear old Natalie Portman. Rotten is an anthem for living on daddy's credit and knowing the hole in your head will never go away, like the buzzing guitars drilling into your brain.

Pilots has them threatening to move back to Orange County and join a Nu Metal band and other crimes against coolness, that could only happen in Orange County, the slower guitars seem to weave about and drive home the points in the lyrics.

Crab is singular, so you know it's the kind you eat, has a stop start intensity, for the deep sea diving they are about to do, searching for that crab that can change their reality into being claimed Pixies for the 2020's.

Meetings are for assignations, rather than the need to sit in rooms seeking a cure for all your addictions, even if they are about to be driven into the river, this goes properly manic panic with a super catchy energy.

The album closes with Counting Sheep a lullaby for a generation that seems to doom scroll rather than sleep, they may have their heads in the clouds, but they always want to make sure you know what drives them out of there tiny minds, how can you avoid being eaten up by the madness all around.
