Our Rating:
Kings Without A Crown is Yuppie Flu's first new studio album in 18 years, it is sadly being released in the wake of Matteo Agostinelli's death in February of this year. Yuppie Flu are Matteo Agostinelli with help from long term bassist Francesco Chielli.

The album opens with We're real (In Neverland) is quite laid-back electronica synth pop with a gentle edge to just how real they feel, making clear they are not AI and still have memories of what went down in 1984, no matter what kind of a fuzzy dream it is now.

Avalon has no Roxy Music in it, and doesn't take us to SW7 like Gene Loves Jezebel did in their search for Avalon, this time its whispered on the telephone asking you down to Avalon that might be the one on the outskirts of Lilliput in Dorset, where they will be lost and found searching for the perfect string led synth pop sheen.

Chasing What and where will that chase lead too, are you consumed by your urges and unable to have a day sober on the couch, the chiming keyboards and chilled out feel, like you aren't getting twitchy and itchy, it is possible to be even more relaxed than the music is.
Sweet Ghost Is hiding among the reverb heavy guitars and jangling keyboards that rise and fall over Matteo's gauzy vocals that seem to be somewhere between Luna and Stephen Malkmus.

Devil's Sweetheart makes you feel like a beautiful creature under the shimmering guitars and spare percussive energy. Hold On is in places barely their electronica pop begging and pleading with you to just Hold On and eventually everything will work out, no matter how hard it is to believe at times.

Cosmic Ape is seeking some spaced out flight with spaceship synth noises, swooshes and wooshes dreaming on, hoping things will be okay by Monday. Be Free Now is indie rap for guys who just don't belong and want to be free to do what they wanna be free now and who can blame them.

The album closes with Nothing that sounds rather down at heart, hoping some stole dreams might help them find a way to carry one and get where they want to be, they admit nothing makes sense to them anymore, which is the most 2020's feeling you could have, before the most expansive guitar solo on the album brings things to a properly fired at the edges conlusion.
