City of Angels four-piece TSAR are pure unashamed dumb ass rock ‘n’ roll. ‘Band – Girls – Money’ (apparently the order of priorities in their life) is nothing subtle, nothing new but ballsy enough to raise an eyebrow.
It’s thankfully free of any pretensions, musical or lyrical, revelling in its derivative riffing and hackneyed rebel yells: e.g. “Everyone rock Los Angeles!” Part Kiss, part Crue and part New York Dolls ‘Band – Girls – Money’ is either going to please all camps and shift serious units or fall between two stools and disappear off the radar.
If it’s the latter don’t worry: you haven’t let the future of Rock ‘n’ Roll slip through your fingers, just an efficient resumé of the last 30 years.
