HARDKANDY’S electro-funk single ‘State of You’ swivels its hips in an addictively carefree fashion, the vibrant deep base and tight drumming ensuring the optimum dance-centric motions can be extracted from its core.
Borrowing the smooth-voiced Russ Porter from Quantic Soul Orchestra (for whom Hardkandy’s Simon Little is a session keyboardist) adds a richness to the infectious grooves while the original extended instrumental version ensures that a total funk workout is had by all. The Simian Mobile Disco Mix is off the mark but you’ll be too funked up by that stage to care.
