Review: 'ANNIE'
'ALWAYS TOO LATE (12" REMIX SERIES)'

-  Label: '679 RECORDINGS'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: 'OCTOBER 2005'

Our Rating:
The newest release from ANNIE leaves me feeling cold. All the elements are there for a cracking tune: keyboards, electronic beats and a favourable press release (although when are they not?) but nope. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Resisting the temptation to immediately eject the CD from the machine is difficult, and feelings of regret soon start to kick in.

It's not that this record is rubbish. It's worse than that. It's bland and boring and all things evil in the charts at the moment. Nothing interesting goes on in any of the three songs, the opening track, 'Always Too Late (Joakim Dub Mix)' sounding like the kind of drum and bass you hear at 6 in the morning, after a night of heavy clubbing, when you're so off your face you don't care what you listen to any more.

'Helpless Fool For Love (Patrick Wolf Remix)' is a chill out chart offering with a slow dance beat and breathy singing- possibly the best song on the EP- but still, given the choice I'd rather become deaf rather than to ever hear it again and the least said about the Joakim Vocal Mix of 'Always Too Late' the better.

I'm sorry. I would love to give Annie a good review, but with the quality of songs being as awful as they are it's hard not to curl up
in a ball and die right now.
