Review: 'DOLORES'
'DISTRACT ME'

-  Label: 'Self-Released (www.dolores.co.uk)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'November 2005'

Our Rating:
Claustrophobia, disco, cinema.

It’s hard to find out anything about this band. They could possibly be Swedish in origin (it's actually Leeds - Ed), but this could be a lie- but in any case their music speaks for itself. Opening track ‘Claustrophobia,’ is a slow, melancholy song with a woman wailing over a plodding bass line and echoing guitars.

‘Disco’ is a slight improvement sounding slightly like over-looked 90s sensation Geneva (basically a man singing in a woman’s voice over beautiful backing tracks), the woman’s voice has the same yearning, expressive quality, and can reach the same extreme pitches of Andrew Montgomery.

Unfortunately, ‘Disco’ and final track ‘Cinema’ are let down by the dull and boring bass line and the lack of anything at all happening in the songs. The woman’s beautiful voice is not enough to endear listeners to this group.
