Review: 'AUTOMATIC, THE'
'Raoul'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'March 2006'

Our Rating:
There must have been something in the water in the valleys over recent years, with the alarming flurry of would be Emo bands. It's almost enough to make you sympathetic to Anne Robinson's point of view about the Welsh.

But hold on, while the likes of Funeral For A Friend et al have been holed up, dreaming a troubled American teen existence, The Automatic have been hanging out at Spanish eateries instead of working... and they are making fun music about it! Ever since Franz burst onto the scene there has been a glut of dance Indie bands come and go, and the bridge of 'Raoul' threatens a slump into a parody of their label mates the Kaiser Chiefs.

However, with a chanting chorus that resembles the Hyde brothers at their Hounds of Love best, The Automatic effortlessly raise the bar. A strong second single that bodes well for their debut album... brace yourself!
