Review: 'ROGERS, LEE'
'DRAWING CLOCKS'

-  Label: 'ZENITH CAFE'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'July 10th 2006'

Our Rating:
Super smooth and silky tunes from ballad king LEE ROGERS make for ridiculously easy and inoffensive listening on his debut album ‘Drawing Clocks’.

Hailing from Belfast, Rodgers follows in the footsteps of his Irish contemporaries, mixing together yearning love with deep soulful slow tunes which tell the story which all singer/songwriters recount. His low, husky vocals speak of passion and heart break and perfectly complement the simple acoustic guitar tunes and the gentle drumbeats.

Lee Rodgers may not be singing about anything new- it’s unsurprising to learn when listening to his album, that he is influenced by Sting and Bruce Springsteen but his continuation of their work combined with his classic Irish good looks will mean that he will undoubtedly attract the attention of impressionable young girls and easy listening fans who like to know what to expect from a song.

I hear a more spiritual thing on some of the songs. Lots about losing and finding....... be it love or spirituality. Im not sure how much reflects Rogers' own life, but I think the whole thing is just captivating, his story telling, his own biography. Was fortunate enough to see him in london, barfly venue, and live he had the audience eating out of his hand, with anecdotes and stories between songs....and probably one of the most powerful voices and range I have heard in a long time....
