Review: 'ROGERS, LEE'
'Drawing Clocks'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'June 2006'

Our Rating:
Very firmly in the adult contemporary genre, Drawing Clocks comes across as something that seems to have been here for a long time. Like picking out of your cd collection something by Springsteen or Van the Man or something. I mean that in a positive way, because for me the music is very definately grown up stuff. But the first thing that hits you is the voice. It reminded me of (in places) Sting, Paul Carrack and yes, even Van Morrison.....well Rogers is a Belfast boy. Brian writes Poetry seemed to be a suicide story, where Drawing Clocks is a homage to daydreaming.

The production is a sort of a classic production. Its a very acoustic album, with loads of stuff going off along with it. "Colourful" comes to mind when I listen.

Seeing Lee live for the first time was just captivating. He had the whole place eating out of his hand. He spoke and laughed and told the most ludicrous stories (He apparently co-wrote message in a bottle with Sting when he was only 2 years old)!!! His voice was stunning, puntuated by a guitar style akin to John Martyn, which is never a bad thing. He played solo acoustic and it sounded like there was more than one guy on the stage!

On the whole, a quality first record from someone who can actually deliver.
