Three glamorous ladies & a male drummer from Yorkshire bring a trashy, camp disco-pop pogo to the table. Echoes of the mellower 70’s punk notables – Debbie Harry & co., with a bit of Gary Numan & Add N to X thrown in for good measure.
All in all it’s pretty good. It’s definitely the kind of tune that would get pissed people up & dancing in a mainstream, provincial town Saturday night fun pub. The synths are bold & upfront, & carry the song well.
Vocalist Hesketh puts in a decent performance, however when she does the classic punk era “finish the verse with a drunken slur” trick, it just doesn’t quite cut it – I’d put money on it being contrived, not wrecked. All in all a decent, if predictable wallop of electro pop.
